CSRD is EU legislation and requires all large companies and all listed companies (approx. 50,000) to disclose information on Environmental, Social and Governance issues.
The required reporting data must be collected one year in advance of reporting deadlines, and it is important not to underestimate the size of the task.
Our experts provide guidance and support that puts your business in a strong, confident position to comply with the demands of CSRD reporting (and other ESG frameworks).
The benefits of CSRD reporting
- Gain an overview of ESG performance so you know what to focus on
- Risk management – ensure regulation compliance
- Become more attractive to customers who purchase from sustainable companies
- Attract the best talent and build employee pride and loyalty
- Secure better finance terms
- Strengthen strategic sustainability impacts and opportunities
- Increase transparency, credibility, and accountability
It is easy to regard CSRD as an administrative exercise, but in reality it exists to drive improved ESG performance, and it is important that your business approach reflects this.

Double materiality assessment (DMA)
What is a DMA?
The basis of your entire reporting is established with a double materiality assessment, as material topics are identified looking at both the financial and impact materiality.
It is mandatory to include double materiality (DM) within your ESRS statement.
The outcome of your DMA determines which topics are material to report.
Impact materiality = the actual or potential, positive or negative impacts, that an undertaking has on people or the environment over the short-, medium- and long-term.
Financial materiality = shows how the risks or opportunities affect an undertakings financial position, financial performance, cash flows, access to finance or cost of capital over the short-, medium-, or long-term.

Impact, risks & opportunities analysis (IRO)
IROs are business specific, and ideally incorporated in to your double materiality assessment:
- Impacts – across the value chain over time
- Risks – risk of not addressing the topic over time
- Opportunities – opportunities of addressing the topic over time
The level of detail can vary based on available data. For example, climate change mitigation can come from a generic source, or based on corporate specific data.
Identify, analyse, prioritise and then mitigate the risks and realise the opportunities
Actively working to determine IROs helps to:
- Take informed decisions
- Enhance stakeholder engagement
- Future-proof the business
ESRS gap analysis
Once metrics and data sources are identified, it is important to see if the data exists and if not, to set up a plan to fill any gaps. We use an ESRS gap analysis for this.
We work with your data owners to see if they have the data and how it would be sourced. This identifies gaps and we can help you make a plan to fill them.
Don’t forget you need to report on the data from the start of the financial year, so if you are reporting in 2026, you need data from 1st Jan 2025.
This process can take significant time, which we can help you shorten, improve accuracy and be ready sooner.
